This Morning

Just the day before My Gay Husband was on TV we went up to Norwich to see it for ourselves for the first time. While we were there a call came in from Granada TV asking us to appear on 'This Morning' the following day in London.

It took some arranging but eventually we agreed that we would drive back to Northampton to pick up some things then onto London for an overnight stay in the Holborn Grange Hotel in WC1

We arrived at the hotel at 8:30 that evening and it was wet and miserable. All expenses were paid for by Granada (well, most of them) so we went to dinner. It was not a lot but came to over £200! Breakfast the following morning was extraordinary ... it would appear that London hotels take a normal price for breakfast and simply add a '0' this was £16 each!

We were picked up at 8:30 in the morning and whisked off to the south bank for the show.

At 9:10 we had to do a little sit down as a family group for the adverts of the program shown just before Trisha.

There was a lot of waiting around and the kids were getting a little bored and drinking a lot of free diet Pepsi and eating croissants!

Kris and I both had a talk to the resident GP (Raj) about our little set up. He was a little put out I thought when I pushed the issue that not everyone as a gay father was rejected by all and sundry.

Daisy-Jane ate for England that morning and drank for us too! There was a crisis on the way onto my fathers house in Kent when she was desperate to use the loo!

John was nicer than I thought, a little strange as I had never really liked him before. His questions were sensible and also not scripted which I thought was a nice honest touch.

I was not warned about the group shots, lucky I was not picking my nose at this point!

Poor Matthew suffered terrible nerves before he went on. He was fine before but it suddenly hit him poor lad

You can't tell from looking but at this point I suddenly realised I was talking to Julie Mallet (supposed to be dead you know) and being watched by about 1.5 million people! It didn't last more than a second or two but for that moment real panic set in!
